SUSTAINABILITY
At Alchemy, we believe that honoring mother nature and supporting sustainable practices that benefit the community around us should be a natural and daily part of life.
ZERO WASTE TO LANDFILL
-
All our waste is diverted from landfill with the help of our local Balinese communities. We are proud of our teams for achieving average recycling rates of 80% and we segregate our waste into at least five waste streams to save resources, reduce our impact on the environment and because it’s the right thing to do.
-
Glass, aluminum, plastic, paper and card are recycled.. All our managed waste is treated within Bali and recyclables will stay within Bali. Thanks to the hard work of our teams we’ve seen some incredible results since establishment.

USE AND REUSE
-
At Alchemy, we are proud to offer an eco-friendly approach to takeaway dining. We prioritize sustainability by using materials that are both environmentally friendly and responsibly sourced. Our commitment to reducing waste and minimizing our carbon footprint is at the heart of everything we do.
-
One of the key aspects of our sustainability initiatives is our choice of takeaway packaging. We have carefully selected sustainable materials such as bamboo and leaves to create our entire range of packaging. By using these materials, we avoid contributing to deforestation while also eliminating the need for any plastic lining. This conscious decision alone has resulted in a significant positive impact on the environment. By opting for bamboo and leaves, we help reduce the demand for plastic, ultimately helping to preserve our natural resources for future generations. We extend our commitment to sustainability to other aspects of our takeaway experience as well. Instead of traditional plastic cutlery, we offer wooden cutlery that is biodegradable and renewable. By choosing our takeaway service, you not only enjoy delicious food but also contribute to a greener future. Join us in embracing sustainability one meal at a time!
-
We have chosen papaya stems and rice paper straws as alternatives to conventional plastic straws. These natural options are biodegradable and compostable, providing an eco-friendly alternative without compromising on quality.
-
To further minimize waste, we have eliminated the use of bin liners. Instead, we use leaves as a natural and sustainable alternative. This decision not only reduces the consumption of single-use plastic but also encourages the use of biodegradable materials that return to the earth without harm.
-
In line with our sustainability efforts, we also prioritize encouraging our customers to opt for towels over disposable paper products. When our customers opt for reusable towels, we reduce paper waste and promote a more sustainable and responsible approach to cleaning and hygiene.

The ingredients are washed and served to our customers maintaining high quality standards.
Our left over food is disposed with utmost care either into the organic compost bin or our staff take them home to feed it to their cattle thereby facilitating a circularity model. We try not to send waste to landfills as much as possible.

BUILDING SUSTAINABLY
We are proud to collaborate with Ibuku Bali, a renowned architectural firm specializing in sustainable bamboo structures. By partnering with Ibuku Bali, we incorporate their expertise in designing and constructing bamboo buildings, which are not only visually stunning but also eco-friendly. Through the use of bamboo, a rapidly renewable resource, we demonstrate our commitment to sustainable construction practices while showcasing the beauty of natural materials.
Furthermore, at our Uluwatu facility, we take sustainability a step further by repurposing existing buildings. By reusing structures, we reduce the need for new construction materials and limit the environmental impact associated with demolition. This approach not only minimizes waste but also preserves the unique character and history of the area, contributing to a more sustainable and mindful development process.
In our pursuit of sustainability, we challenge ourselves to go beyond conventional building practices. We conduct "appropriate evaluation" environmental assessments during the construction phase to ensure that our restaurants are as sustainable during their development as they are when they are fully operational.
These assessments help us identify areas where we can maximize the reuse of materials, specify materials with high recycled content, install energy-efficient equipment, and ensure that all timber used is certified as sustainable.
By incorporating natural and recycled materials, collaborating with experts in sustainable architecture, reusing existing structures, and conducting thorough environmental assessments, we create restaurants that are true embodiments of our commitment to sustainability. Join us in experiencing a unique dining experience while supporting our mission to build a greener and more sustainable future.
